Tuesday's Thought of the Day #28

December 10, 2013

In excitement, many people are guilty of counting down the days until Christmas when we can open presents, see family and eat far too much food, myself included. It is the most wonderful time of the year after all. Many of us literally count down the days with an advent calendar (or two) filled with goodies, waiting for our holidays to arrive right alongside Santa.

However, it has occurred to me that we essentially spend a whole month wishing the time away all for one day that seems to be over quicker than most. It seems crazy to me that each year in December we hope that the days will slip by in a blur when really we should be savouring each day and living it to the fullest. Carpe diem and all that.

Instead of counting the days, it should be our mission to make each day count. If that means getting shopping done or seeing friends or spending an hour or two on the couch with loved ones then do it. Making the days count doesn't mean you have to do something life changing or exceptional. It means making the most of each day in whatever way you see fit. Just don't wish that it is over.

Until next time!

  1. love this post Debi! :)
I completely agree with you...I like how you said there isn't a right way to spend the day as such neither :) if you enjoy chilling on the sofa then do it..it shouldn't be classed as wasting time :) xx

    1. Yeah, so long as you are doing something worthwhile or that you enjoy, including lounging about, having a lazy day, it is a day well spent!
