Confessions of a Twenty-Something

Whilst I was considering putting together a list of 30 things to do before I'm 30 I realised that there's a whole lot of things that other people think is completely normal that I have never done. Some things seem so normal to others and yet I've just never experienced them. Blogging here is all about being open and such so here are my confessions...

I have never...
been on a proper first date.
driven a car.
been to a music festival.
had a hangover.
been to a theme park.
been to university.
travelled or taken a gap year - other than the odd week's holiday somewhere.
been on a merry-go-round.
carved a pumpkin.
had a tattoo or piercing other than my earlobes.
lived anywhere but my home city.
been asked out.
gone on a girls' holiday.
tried smoking.
learnt to play an instrument.
bought designer clothes.
broken a bone. *touch wood*
been to Disneyland or Disneyworld.

What have you never done that lots of other people think is completely normal?

  1. I've never had a hangover either but it's also not something I want to experience. Wow I can't believe you've never been to Disney world! Do you ever want to go?

    1. I'm not sure if its really for me to be honest. People dressed up in costume freak me out and I'm not really one for rides. Haha. I'm proud to never have had a hangover to be honest. I like the odd drink but I'm pleased I know my limit and never wake up feeling awful the next morning!

  2. You aren't missing anything on the hangovers, they were a regular (twice weekly thing) at uni and I don't miss that haha. I'm the same as you with the never tried driving or gap year, music festival or Disney World/land which I actually have no interest in ever visiting either, I don't really get the whole Disney thing.

The only thing I can't think of, off the top of my head that's is that i've never watched any reality TV show or owned anything by Apple (again not something I want to do either).

    1. I like Disney but I'm not sure the whole Disneyland/world thing is for me. It seems like a lot of money to spend when people in costume freak me out and I don't much like rides. I know there's more to it than that but they're pretty big parts of the experience so it seems pointless for me.
For a while reality TV was a bit of a guilty pleasure but I don't watch any shows anymore. I don't really know why I ever did!

  3. I love posts like these. I've never been to Disneyland/World or whatnot either, tbh I don't even like Disney films that much. I just don't like cartoons in general.
I do like a music festival and going to concerts but we only starting going in this last year. But I really enjoy music :)
I've never carved a pumpkin, but I did make pumpkin pie for the first time this morning.

I actually really enjoying trying things just once. I like that first time of trying something, so I guess I've tried/done quite a few things that I shouldn't have done or that's a little bit more out there haha.

I've never been to a doughnut shop! That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

    1. I like trying new things sometimes but I'm pretty good at just sticking at what I know. Essentially I avoid anything that might be a bit scary or involves me doing anything a little out there - not that I think going to university is "out there". Haha.

  4. I can relate to a lot of these! I've never had a hangover either, smoked, had a tattoo or piercing (I haven't even got my ears done), been to any sort of Disney theme park, carved a pumpkin, been on a girls holiday or bought designer clothes. One thing I've never done which always leaves people confused is that I've never bought anything from Starbucks or Costa, I've also never had a contract phone! :-) xx

    1. Oh, I've never had a contract phone either. Pay and go all the way here! Haha. I used to want my lip and cartilage in my ear pierced but my mum wouldn't let me. I'm glad that she didn't now - I'd have looked ridiculous with my lip pierced for sure! Haha.
